Hi, newbie here so please be gentle!!

The other half wants to create w "cork" wall using self adhesive cork tiles, and she wants it on a wale that is currently covered in artex. As we only rent i don't want the expense of removing it and was wondering if i need to cover / bond the artex before attempting to stick the tiles up?

Any advise would be gratefully accepted

:D

If it's a heavily texttured artexed surface, it'll be difficult to attach cork tiles evenly. Either way, it might be awkward to do.

I'd suggest you speak with the landlord first and make sure they are happy with your proposed decor alteration.
Cork is not to everyone's taste and would prob require correction after you move out or even lose some deposit.
