Has anyone ever managed to open one of these to expose windings and remove rotor?

If so how?

If they did then onlyfitidealboilers would not have failed.

Nor would I be asking either.

Try it yourself!

bloody hell whats got your goat!, only asking a question and trying to help, and I wont be hunting one down to pull it apart either (but it will disassemble) but for the size of them and price surely your not thinking about repairing the windings!!

As you might guess, I have an obsessive interest in how things work.

That continues into an interest in why they fail. I like to identify the individual component when possible on PCBs and the reasons for other boiler parts.

When I was 10 years old we had a class exercise where we asked a question for another kid to answer. ( That was before internet and needed real library looking in BOOKS to find answers. Those were the days! ).

My class question was how does a gas meter work! Little did I know that after 30 years in the electronics industry I would ever be actually working with gas. Of course just a coincidence but it shows how I was intreagued by that box under the stairs.

Hey Tony, does that mean when you were 10 you went home and took apart your gas meter under the stairs? I guess your parents were pleased. :D :D

When I was 6, the neighbour was on holiday and dad went to check the back of their house.

They had a concrete sundial. Now I knew that it told the time but did not know how it worked. So I tried to turn it over to see the works inside but it wss too heavy and it fell over and broke in two. I was spanked and he tried to repair it with cement!

As I had learnt that there were no works inside, I felt a little stupid when dad explained what I was doing with it.

But you do have to start somewhere!
