Cracking Monocouche Render

We have had some external brick walls rendered using VPI Monocal GM and after about 4-5 days we have a 9" crack from a window corner. Image attached

Why might this have happened? Is it likely to be a materials or an application fault?

What other implications might follow? More cracking or will it be OK when fully dried?

I was not at home when it was put on. I did see some patches of mesh going on around the corners of windows and doors, but I suspect that it was pretty much applied in one go

How can it best be corrected or overcome? Would painting with a masonary paint be the best way to seal it and make it easier to patch and repair in the future, if needed?
