You would need to test the element to be sure, do you have RCD protection on this circuit, I ask because a faulty element is often detected by the residual current device, which will trip out. if this is not tripping then could be down to control unit. But best do an Insulation Resistance test on the element.
Many thanks for the reply. The trip in the main fusebox blew but the grill still worked at the time....now only intermittently, which from your comments suggests a faulty element. I'll have it checked!
Had the element checked.....it's OK....it's the grill switch that has an intermittent fault.....will I have pull out the oven and remove the side panel to replace it?
