How do I drawn the plum line for lining a ceiling? Or do I just go off one of the ceiling edges?

from the window, or main source of light mark the ceiling at both ends running parralel to the window, coming about 5cm shorter than the width of the lining, then strike a chalk line between the two points.
hang the lining to the line anfd trim the excess.
