Hi all,

i want to install a tap for a WM.

i just turned off the stopcock from my water tank,
drained that water left in the pipes using the bath tap.

as i cut into the pipe i heard a hissing sound, it seems to be sucking air in.
it's followed by the sound of trickling water,

i didn't expect that, so i quickly tied a vinyl glove around that small cut to temp patch it up.

is that normal?
have i just destroyed my house?!!

SUre - isn't it just the pipe emptying?

You might have a leak of course with the water running out under the ground.
When reinsatated and pipes full of water, test by turning off mains stop cock, hold tumbler of water under tap with tap in the water, and open the tap. If level drop, pipe's leaking.

yeah it stopped after a moment!

doh...

will check for leaks tho thanks!
