I don't usually bother much with DAB, except I have just picked up a Roberts, and this one like other DAB receivers, has lots of apparently dead DAB channels in the list of channels, after a retune. All of the dead ones, just show <DLS> - so why list none-existent channels?

They may be stored in the memory. Why not do a factory reset?

Done that twice..

My guess, right or wrong - is that a DAB full retune, just grabs a list of all the stations, whether they are in range or not, and offers them regardless in the list of stations.

On further investigation, the <DLS> appear for a fraction of a second, irrespective of which channel is chosen, it just disappears, when a live channel comes on.

Possibly. I honestly do not know. It might be the case that the radio can can see the signal but it is too weak to provide info such as the channel name.

Dynamic Label Segment (scrolling text typically) also known as RadioText on RDS FM.
BBC Radio 2 has track info and presenter stuff which changes during the programme (for example) in DLS.
The <DLS> appearing is just a Roberts foible of display programming by them.

I have a Denon unit that seems unwilling to delete all tuned channels even with a factory reset/retune with no antenna connected.
