Hello,
I have been stood on my garage roof today{ fat roof } in order to clean windows on my house. I was horrified to note that there was some large cracks/rips or tears along the crease lines of my mineral felt edgings. The flat roof is not new in fact it was professionaly laid in October 1992 ie it is nearly fourteen years old but until today I have always considered it to be in extemely good order.
Can anyone suggest whether this damage could have been caused by wildlife ie cats birds or squirrels or would this be typical of a natural ageing of the roofing materials albeit it does appear to have deteriorated rather rapidly. Also are there any good adhesive tapes available which could effect a good temporary repair? Or can anyone suggest any good temporary repair?
Thank you for any assistance

Most likely T&G chipboard was used causing the hairline crack, does the crack seem to be in a straight line?

The life of the flat roof felt these days are approximately 15 yrs average.

Ideally a low pitch roof is the answer for trouble free although your roof is repairable.

Can you do a photo to highlight the problem?

I can't submit photograph for two reasons:
firstly I don't have a digital camera secondly I don't have the know-how to submit it to the forum.
However the damage isn't hairline cracks they are large gaping rips/tears/whatever that I could put my hand or fingers through.
Can the repair be done by myself, is there a good adhesive tape available or would the section of edging need to be replaced? The damage runs along the original crease lines that were created at installation.
Thank you for any assistance
