I recently built a flat roof workshop. It is very damp under the roof-plywood and mouldy and black. It is getting worse by the day. The builder initially thought it could be due to lack of ventilation but after improving the vetilation and keeping the windows open all the time, things are getting bad to worse. The board is completly black. The beams/rafters are OK
Any suggestion please

Hi Rajah

How are you heating the space ? parafin or Calor Gas heaters can cause these problems

What is the space being used for ? are you drying wood, or is it being used as a drying room for clothes? Do you have a tumble dryer in or near it ? Or anything that involves water inside ?

Do you know the build up of the roof and walls ?

Is there any chance there is a leak in this area -- does not have to be dripping, just enough for water to enter the build up ?
