Hello all,
First post
I have a damp issue on the inside of the garage wall. The wall is part of a 1980's 2 storey extension and from what I can work out is made from breeze block (can't tell if it's a single block or one with a cavity), the outside is rendered and the inside plastered.
When the rain is very heavy the damp spots either appear (in the case of the circular blobs) or get significantly worse (in the case of the "drip" picture). The upstairs wall (a plastered bedroom) doesn't appear to suffer from this, certainly there is no smell of damp or blown plastering.
I can't work out where the damp is coming from. Through the rendering is a possibility although due to the neighbours house being fairly near to the boundary it wouldn't get serious driving rain. Also, the dripping photo issue is there all the time although significantly less in size when it's dry.
Any ideas where else I should / could be looking to identify the root cause?! Is this perhaps blatantly obvious ....!
I've gone with "General Discussion" but will move to a more appropriate board if it's obvious what is causing the problem.
Many thanks in advance,
Spoon
