Hello

My en suite shower has been leaking and a stain has appeared on the living room ceiling, underneath the leak. Will this need to be replaced or is it ok just to re paint it as I think ive now sealed the shower and fixed the leak. The ceiling isnt bowed or anything just a brownish stain. Any advice appreciated

If you are sure that the leak has been fixed and the damage to your ceiling is nothing more than a brown waterstain, then paint over the stain with an "oilbased" undercoat, (the smelly stuff). Let it dry, and then emulsion the ceiling as per normal. The undercoat will permanantly block the stain from bleeding through the emulsion on the ceiling. As long as the plasterboard itself hasn't been damaged, that's the main thing.

Roughcaster.
