had back boiler removed about 16 years ago. the metal flue pipe was left in the chimney. we now have a damp patch on the bedroom wall were the chimney is. have checked up in the loft, all is dry on the bedroom ceiling. and so is the chimney. would the old flue pipe cause condensation. the pipe was sealed at the bottom. thanks.

Has some sort of vent been placed at the fireplace, to allow a drying airflow to take place up the chimney. Has the top been capped with a vented cap?
