I bought a property a few years ago which had been damp proofed. The guarantee still has 10 years or so on it. I have now come to sell the flat and the buyer's survey has revealed damp proof work is needed to two walls at a cost of £2,800.
I have all the paperwork relating to the guarantee from the previous owners apart from the drawing to show what walls were treated. The company are refusing to honour the guarantee because of this, even though they have told me they have a copy of the plan in their archives.
Does anyone know of any governing body who may be able to mediate with this company, or whether I can take this any further? I've said that I'm willing to pay their administration fee for investigating whether there is any claim on the guarantee (which is £300), and I'd have thought this would have covered the cost of them digging their file out of archive anyway so from a PR point of view they could use their plan rather than ours.
