I recently had a sewage drain blockage which I had cleared but revealed there was some pipe damage as some of the lining came through. This was causing a sewage smell in the toilet but that seems to have gone but there is a damp type smell now. It's stronger in the attic. Any ideas of what could be causing it or what things can I do to identify what the cause of the smell is?

1. Did the damp smell only appear immediately after the cleared blockage?

2. How long had the sewage smell been present?

3. Was the blockage cleared thro the WC, from a manhole or cleanout, or from down the soilpipe from the roof area?

4. What do you mean "some of the linings came through"?

5. Did anyone mention the term AAV?
