house is 1886, semi, brought a year ago for a good price, due to needing alot of work,,
damp was the main thing, now we got a damp specialist in who inspected everything then we had 1m high all round plaster chipped off and lots of "stuff" injected into the walls, brickwork,, also had to remove pavement outside as it was inline with airbricks,,

we live in the house now, and have it fully heated up, brand new roof was built, loads of insultion,, cavity wall also, but when rains outdoors, or we turn heaters off i still get a scent of that murky damp smell,, particuallr from old kitcehn units,, everything is dry. and like i say spent thousands on the place so cant understand the smell still..

any advise?

Hi

Assuming that you have a suspended timber ground floor - you had better check the floor void to ensure that there is adequate ventilation, and while your there check the condition of the floor joists and underside of the floor boards - get a bradel and stab the timber - if the bradel goes in more than a few millimeter, you may have a problem.

The smell you are noticing is indicative of stale air and/or fungal attack, fungal attack (dry rot in particular)is encouraged where there is inadequate ventilation.
