This is a picture of a damp patch on the downstairs chimney breast,it is only on the one corner though.

The room is used often and is well ventilated and heated.

The pots are not capped either.

Any ideas on remedies most appreciated.

Cheers.
Stu.

If your pots aren't capped, and the fire opening blocked up, then rain can still get down and not dry off

That damp looks too high to be coming up, and so must be coming down the flue or across the wall if an external wall

The rusting beads will need to be cut out or exposed and treated/sealed or they will rust forever

And put a vent in the breast to aid drying and prevent further problems.
