Dartboard+Cabinet Mounting

Hin, im having trouble mounting my dartboard+cabinet. It requires 2X 40mm screws, however the hanging brackets on the cabinet are 18 and a half inches apart, and im hanging the cabinet+board onto a studded wall. Am i right in that studs are generally 16 inches apart? In which case, any ideas how i could mount it onto the said wall?

Use a wider piece of ply mounted on the wall ,then mount the cab/board on the ply.

Thats a good idea cheers! Can use the ply as a kind of guard from useless players as well haha!
