Gosh, how did you smash the glass disks ?

Took the lid off, put the HDD in a plastic bag and put it on a hard surface.

Got a socket out of my tool box big enough to fit over the HDD disk arbor and allow it to sit on the glass disc. I then hit the socket causing the glass disc to shatter into hundred of pieces just like a car windscreen would.
