Hi could anyone please explain to me what dead tests are in relation to a partially installed installation, why would they be necessary to be done then, and further more is there any literature I can buy that can give me a comprehensive faut finding and diagnosis overview of an installation whilst testing and inspecting.

Long winded I know - so if anyone can just gimme some help it would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried asking your lecturer?

Scaddan's book is pretty good, and the NICEIC guide is well regarded, I believe.

HINT: Dead tests are those which must NOT be performed live...
