Deck posts down into clay

I have now dug down nearly 3 feet and am in pure clay. I need to support my deck on posts in concrete. Will clay support the load of a large deck if I make sure the concrete pad has quite a large "footprint" or will the clay squidge down over time?

wabbit, done a few similar down here. i belled the bottoms out well, and used more supports than normal to spread the load a bit more and so far never had a problem.
