Decking clips

Been searching on here looking for advice on decking clips, seems the screwfix spiked system gets the thumbs down.

And my boards dont have any slots cut in, may have a biscuit jointer if the need be, rather use a screw/spike system, any trade/ diyers out there used such a system recently?

What kind of decking are you going to fit?

I have used the sabrefix/screwfix ones on a number of treated pine/spruce decks without any problems - so long as you fit them correctly. Remember to angle (bend) the pronged part slightly higher (maybe 10 degrees more) on the side you are hitting with the hammer and compensate for the angle by lifting the board slightly as you fix them. Then weigh the board down to fix to the joists. That way you won't bend the prongs when hitting them or have the boards lift off when they shrink. If boards are warped use temporary screws to keep them straight for about a week after fixing before removing (if the surface would show screw holes then place them in the joints).

For hardwood decks plastic biscuits are the way to go in most cases for a hidden fixing. I can't see why you couldn't use them on a softwood deck too, although it would take longer to install.

Thanks for taking time to reply, indeed this is for hardwood not softwood.

I have a biscuit jointer, any particular brand of decking biscuit you recommend?
I guess as you say will take longer to biscuit each side of each length as i go. But of course no screws on show is my most desirable finish.
