Hi all,

I'm midway through building a frame for two large decks in the garden and want to add in some noggins.

The rest of frame is made from 2 x 4 but I didn't order enough for the noggins and can't seem to pick this up anywhere locally and am looking for a cost effective solution.

Could I use deck board for noggins? It measures roughly 100mm x 30mm. My thinking is that it doesn't actually need to support weight so the fact that it's 15mm thinner than my joists doesn't matter.

What do people think?

One deck measures 2.4m x 3m, the other is 4.5m x 3m.

Thanks!

Thanks I'll go with that then. Should I cut the noggins to a size that corrects any bowing in the joists as they are by forcing them in, or should I just be supporting them to stay as is?
