Decking oil recommnedations??

My decking has been down for a three weeks now, so once the next rain spell passes I'd like to get it treated - unless I should leave it a little longer still?

I originally bought some Cuprinol decking oil as I had previously used their shed & fence preserver, and liked the results. But when I got it home I noticed it was 'water based'. Maybe I'm wrong, but an 'oil' can't be water based, surely?

Either way, the OH picked up the wrong colour so it has to go back anyway. I noticed that Ronseal's decking oil is solvent based, so I was tempted to try this, but had heard in the past that Ronseal products were not that great.

Has anyone used the eco friendly water based oils? Are they to be avoided?

I use Cuprinol decking and protection oil with no problem.It's each to his own,I haven't tried any other products because I'm happy with it.

Have you used the water based one enyam? I hear that this is a recent change, and previously it was solvent based?
