Decorating after a damp proof course

Hi,
I have just had some remedial work done to rectify a breach in the damp proof course on one wall. A number of holes were drilled, chemical damp proof course inserted and the holes then refilled with a putty like substance (sorry don't know the correct term). The guy who did the work said that i should not redecorate for 6 months. This seems quite a long time, can anyone tell me if this is accurate and why it would be the case?

fraid they are right. The chemical in its wet state will react with any paint you apply. It will discolour it. The same applys with wall coverings. Dont do it. It takes up to 5 months to fully dry and give you a working dpc. It is no prob in its dry state. You can paint and paper then.

ps they say 6 months to be safe.

You're not the first person to have wasted their money on this pointless 'remedy'. Injecting bricks won't stop a rising damp problem.

Did a damp specialist survey the property and seek out all possible causes of the problem that you had?
