decorating my house

Hi all,

In the process of decorating my house.

The house has been rewired so we have new plaster along the chases.

1) how many coats do the walls need?

2) what type of paint and brand should i use for best finish?

3) Other than sanding and filling what other prep work do the walls need?

4) I wish to paint coving silver. Currently this is white. Will it work?
