Hi,

We are just having a single story extension built. We are going to have a wood burning stove installed once the extension is finished. It will be on a hearth and have an exposed flue. We have had the correct heat proof plasterboard used behind the area the stove will be sited on. The room has now been plastered and we are thinking about decor.

So, in short, is it possible to use wallpaper on the wall behind the stove, or will it get too hot and cause the paper to come away from the wall? If you can't paper, can you get some sort of backing plate for the area that gets hottest?

Many thanks.

check your instructions for the fire it will tell you how far combustable materials need to be from fire

I would not paper inside recess on rear of recess. Cover back wall with 12mm concrete board and paint with thin layer emulsion works.
