Defragmenting drive

Slowness starting probably has more to do with an old windows becoming completely bloated by all the programs you have loaded and forgotten. The rubbish which windows has to work through when it starts up keeps growing.
 
Try clearing out the Temp Internet Folder, the Temp folder and your Cookies Folder..

These fill up with junk and SERIOUSLY slow the machine down.

What OS are you running??
