Delonghi combination microwave help

I have just bought a DeLonghi combination oven model AC925EFY I want some advice please.
In the instruction manual it says the metal grill stand that comes with the oven can be used for microwaving & in the combination mode oven+microwave. I am wary of doing this as you are not supposed to put metal into a microwave.
Can anyone advise me on this?

Metal is ok in m/waves as long as it's not a big lump, shelves are ok.
What you must not do is let metal touch the sides (it will ark).
Even take away food containers are ok, but the food will not warm evenly.
