I have had to replace the ceramic tap glands in my 5y old Bristan kitchen tap. Unfortunately the tap glands stocked in B&Q turned out to have a longer spline than the ones I removed and hence once refitted the tap handle stuck out a cm or so from the tap body. I cut off 5mm and refitted but it still sticks out by 5mm or so - it can't really be cut down further and I think it's the nut desig is slightly different too, contributing to the poor fit.

So is it possible to get hold of these alternate shorter splined glands - or at least with a shorter distance from the end of the spline to the gland/tap joining point? if so where should I look - I guess the local plumbers merchant will be a good place to start - but are they a "specialist" product?

Thanks for any tips.

The easiest solution is to take the old cartridge and the tap head to a good plumbers merchant
