digital video camera

I have a digital video camera that records to tape (its high-8) but i am wondering what are the ones like that record direct to cd or is it DVD (tell i havent looked yet cant you)

what I really am interested in is what are they like for editing if irecords to a DVD?

My camera connects via fire wire to my pc which has pinacle studio. it uploads fine and the speed is good i was just wondering is there anything better?

No, as it's digital the quality will be dependent on the circuitry and lenses more than the recording medium. I assume you meant high-def with the smiley thing? or were you suggesting that the machine liked to smoke the sweet leaf?

DV tape, firewire, pinnacle, all sounds good to me. If it ain't broke?
