Hi,

Having replaced several single and double sockets, I am testing them all with a socket tester - the one I have is basically a blue plug with an orange neon. I have had this for many years but never had any lamp indication readings.

Every time, the neon glows bright orange and all is good, but on one side of one of the doule sockets the orange neon glows dim.

I have resecured all the wiring, but still it glows a dim orange.

Any ideas what this is indicating and how I go about rectifying it?

Thanks.

Not sure which tester you have but
it could be the pins in the socket - dirty, burnt, corroded or just loose.

Change for another new one and see if it is better.
These days I think you are lucky to have only one which is a bit suspect.

Neons degrade over time and don't like marginal conditions when they are elderly (a bit like yours truly!).

If you have a test meter, check the voltages P- N and P - E.

If OK suggest changing the socket, or using a proper piece of test equipment!
