I have recently moved house, the previous houses shower was a 9.5kw shower ,when in use the lights hardly dimmed, barely noticable.
In the house I have moved to fitted shower with 10 mm square cable isolating switch and own ciruit ,the whole gubbins so how come the lights dim quite a bit when using shower and can it be remided?

This is normal.

It will vary from property to property due to factors such as the distance from the substation, the amount of houses fed from the substation, the size of the substation nd feed cables etc etc.

It is very common for a high load such as a shower to cause lights to dip - my TV causes my lights to briefly dull!

It would be even more prominant if your CU was fed via a submain within your house.
