Diplomat 700ga oven

Hi

I've got a cust who's Diplomat 700ga oven cuts out after about 20 mins or sooner if the temp is turned up to max.

Have ruled out faulty thermostat and blocked bypass as it comes up to temp and then goes to low rate and increases when temp is lost.

When it cuts out the valve shuts, good, and the whole of the digital clock/programmer goes blank, off.

Anyone got any ideas?

I'd guess you were right. When it gets up to heat there's probably a dry joint or crack on the PCB that opens. That's why the hotter it is the sooner it goes faulty. If you have some freon spray you can cool it down to see if it starts up again. I had Ford Escort with an ignition module that did the same thing - so I got some spray and sure enough it worked again (until it got hot).

Cheers mate I'll get some spray and check it out and while I'm there I'll install an escort in his kitchen, but his budget might only stretch to an austin allegro!
