disconecting my gas cooker

Yes you can, at that brass bayonet fitting.. The valve will or should self seal.

The fact that your gas pipe is not securely clipped might raise some eyebrows though so take it carefully so as you don't damage the pipe and clip it up safely as soon as you can

thanks Corgigrouch, i had a new back door fitted where the cooker was, my tame gas fitter will be round this week to move the pipe and fit a new cooker, cheers

take care, this fitting is a bayonet and is designed to be used as a point of disconnection by a non gas person, to clean behind cooker etc, so short term disconnection should not be a prob, if it is to be left for any time as a point of disconnection it has to be facing down, secured to the wall and confirmed as completely sealed, yours is neither of the first 2 and how will you confirm it is sealed?

hi, my gas fitter is going to br here mon or tuesday, it it ok to disconect and leave it until then?

the silence is deafening
realistically probably yes, BUT nobody can give you the assurance you need that you will be able to disconnect the cooker properly (without disturbing any of the other unsecured fittings) and that the bayonet will in fact seal properly, a lot of gas could leak between now and monday/tuesday, sorry to be so Victor Meldrew on you
