If I service a BBU and the BB is fine but the Firefro0nt (FF) is showing signs of spillage or incomplete combustion and thus 'ID' - what is the correct way to isolate the fire, i'm presuming that the 3 way isolater is not acceptable as a point of isolation? but i dont now.

BTW - why isnt the FF required to be recorded on a seperate line to the back boiler unit on the CORGI GSC sheets?

I don't see why the fire shouldn't be isolated by a cap or plug at the T valve. The fire has to be in place for the flue flow test on the BBU though, which stops it being removed.
The BBU and FF ARE on separate lines on a Landords gas Safety Record.

Ive always just used the isolation valve. Aslong as you label it, its against the regs for anyone to reinstate the gas and use the appliance.

I also always use the 3 way valve as an isolation point as it isn't meant to be a user control so it should be ok,-and I always list the firefront and bbu as 2 seperate appliances because it needs two sets of BP's,two spillage checks etc.,...that was the way I was taught.

Fine for Ar but you can't really Id them by turning off a gas tap. If you can't isolate seperately then isolate the complete appliance. Are we talking about the housewarmers which crack on the hx?, you can get a cap on them.

Yes I was going to say cap or plug the branch somehow as it is ID. Alternatively if you can't cap the branch take it off fit a standard gas cock for the gas valve of the BBU.

If that is too difficult then the only other option is completely muller the controls of the fire so that it is impossible to make it work. If there is a tc cut it in two (probably isn't one though) Drill out the control knob centre. Make that sucker impossible to use.

DON'T do what one of my landlords, thinking it would look minimalist, did, and plaster up all those unsightly places where air can get in....

Off topic, but I had a landlord cross me the other day. I said I'll run the gas pipe outside. He said, I've never seen it run outside. I said, oh I'm glad you're such an expert 'cause now your on your own, bye bye.

Then there was another one late yesterday evening. "Is that Paul Barker?" (I mean who do they expect to get when they ring paul barker that starts them off on the wrong foot?) "can you go and unblock a sink?" my reply, is this an emergency? "yes I have a house full of students want it fixed" OK that's £80 call out. "I'll go and have a look at it myself". Hooray, got rid of another landlord. I hate 'em.

wait a gosh darn mo

if the fire front is spilling then so is the bbu

how the heck do you check a bermuda for spillage except from the fire front

ID the *******

CORGI told me a bbu including firefront is classed as ONE appliance ergo you must treat them as such

I have done many a LLGC with a CORGI bloke in toe and never treated the bbu as two appliances on the paperwork

is i being wrong again chris, if so I can really stick it to CORGI so please tell me I am wrong :):):):):):):):):):)

Draught diverter usually as per mi's. One for the boiler, one for the fire and one both on together.

I do same and then either pinch the control knob, disconnect it or sometimes take it off and stash it somewhere in or around the fire / BBU

I always use 2 lines for FF and BBU on the LGSC.

Another thing I do after I have labelled something is to take a pic with my phone then save it on my PC.
If you right click and look at the properties of the file you can get the date and time the photo was taken and tie it in to the date on the LGSC to prove that you labelled it. It shows in the properties as Date Modified
