dishwasher door problem

Hi all,

last night the diashwasher door (left about 4 inches ajar) crashed to the fully open position.
now there seems to be no resistance to the door. it shuts fine but the door either falls to the fully open position or closed ( if its only 2 in open)
I am guessing there is some sort of spring to give it resistance and thats broken.

Does that sound correct?
