Dishwasher salt sensor?

I have a WD145 integrated dishwasher.

The salt sensor light can on the other day but I did not have any salt. I used a tub of ordinary table salt thinking this might work but no. I bought some proper salt and filled the container. The salt light now shows nothing and the washer bleeps for about 30 seconds and if the door is closed the motor starts for about 30 seconds and stops.

Could this be a faulty sensor or would I have to remove the unit and drain the table salt from the reservoir?

Any hint, plesse
thanks

Steve
