Dishwasher tripping power switch

Hi All

Belated happy new year. We have an issue with our AEGF343000V10.

Yesterday, we noticed that dishwasher had stopped mid cycle, resulting in circuit switch for kitchen sockets being tripped. At that stage, there was still about a cm of water in the dishwasher.

Just pulled washing machine out to access sockets, check cables etc, and noticed we had a leak from the compression joint which supplies water to the washing machine. Photo attached. Can stop leak with the isolator, so it’s the washing machine end of the valve.

Is it likely that the leak from supply to one appliance tripped the other appliance?

Have swapped over the plugs and confirmed the sockets ok. Also cleaned and dried cables but dishwasher still doesn’t work. (Washer does)

I clearly need to tighten/replace the compression joint in question. (Water off) If it’s the latter, is it a relatively straightforward job?

I was also going to check flood tray for the DW. According to AEG manual it’s at the bottom of the DW and revealed by a few screws. Again, photo attached. Do you concur with this.

All other things being equal, need to establish if there is 1 or two separate issues.

What exactly tripped ,show us a picture if you don't know what type of breaker it is.
Don't know if the access on your dishwasher for flood tray is that shown in your pic ,but suspect it is.
Unless water has got onto the wiring to the dishwasher ,or into it , from the leak ,it's unlikely to be the cause of the trip.

Thanks. It’s the discrete circuit breaker for the sockets in the kitchen- a new circuit was installed when we had kitchen done in 2016.

The dishwasher was on when the above mcb tripped. Even though area cleaned and dried a bit, there is still an issue with the DW-doesn’t switch on. If something else caused the DW to trip, does that suggest the leak is just a coincidence?

MCB trips if there is a short circuit or an overload .
As you appear to have re set the MCB successfully, and the DWasher doesn't work, that would be indicative of an internal fault within it.
Is the DW actually being electrically energised , any lights on it working ?
By the way the leak on the washing machine hose ,if it is where it connects to the isolator , a new washer will sort that.

Thanks again. No lights when dw turned on. Leak-the water is emanating from the area directly under the blue plastic screw. (As per image) Will source replacement washer.

First what is tripping second how are you testing, insulation tester, RCD tester, and clamp-on ammeter can all help, I had the RCBO trip on front of house ring final, I went all around house unplugging things, and on unplugging dishwasher RCBO stopped tripping, just to be sure, I tested dishwasher, no fault found, and tested the ring final and ramp test showed well within limits, so plugged back in, and all running again, and I have not a clue why it tripped to start with.

I will assume an interference suppressor had a faulty capacitor or something similar, and the insulation tester has blown it clear, but likely I will never find out what it was.

Have you checked the fuse in the DWashers plug ?

Update: it was indeed the fuse in the dw plug. I can’t recall tge last time I had a fuse go in a plug, must be 20 years plus.

Now onto replacing washer.
