I am reinstalling a kitchen sink and dishwasher. The new sink is a double bowl with a combined waste kit, including a spigot for an appliance outlet.

I would prefer not to use this as it is close to the sink waste and others I've used like this make a row when the d/w drains.

The combined waste fits a trap, then runs about 300mm to the back wall and another 300mm down to meet a the existing horizontal run (800mm? and all 40mm) There it meets a 50mm tee and exits via another 50mm pipe to a ground level gully.

What I want to do is insert a swept tee on the horizontal run and connect a spigot there. Will this give me siphonage or backwash problems??

Also there will be no trap between the d/w waste and the outlet, but it doesn't connect to any soil pipe. Does this break any regs?

Thanks, Rudy

You shouldn't experience any siphonage or backwash problems on such large dia pipes with such short runs. You really should fit a trap in the d/w side (a running trap made of elbows would be OK) 'cos you will get foul air coming from the outside gulley.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I can always revert to the spigot on the trap if it gets smelly.
