Hi

I'm about to start demolishing a large timber shed this weekend 10m x 5m, but like a numpty never really factored into the rebuild the cost of disposing of it!

Can anybody advise me on cost effective ways of disposing of it? as it would take a lot of skips to get rid of that amount of wood, and access would be too tight for one of the really big roro skips, I thought about a grab wagon but the ones I contacted only seem to collect soil or hardcore

Any ideas?

Thanks

Stack it on the pavement outside your house with a label " free firewood". My neighbours burn all my old wood.

It will go much more quickly and quietly if the label says "firewood for sale £5, please knock"

To be ecological, advertise it on your local Freegle.

Had thought about burning it but it's covered in creosote so it would give off nasty fumes so think that's out of the question

was goner say the same thing,when its free no 1 wants it,put a price on it and its a bargain if its nicked.

Leave it out on the street offering it for free as others have said, regardless of its suitability for burning people will take it.

People are idiots when it comes to firewood. I cut down a soaking wet rotten stump last year that had been rotting since cut down 6 years previous, It was 2 feet diameter and only the middle 6'' was even wood the rest was like a firm wet sponge. I cut it into sections just about liftable and told my labourer to leave it beside the skip on the street. I bet him £10 someone would take it, he bet against sayaing no way it wouldnt even burn.

The first guy who walked past, as my mate was still walking back up the drive, asked could he have it... He said he'd just got a woodburner

I cut down a conifer tree (big one) and logged it the other day. Advertised it on freecycle. A person who had just had a wood burner installed came round and took it. She walked past my wood store at the time and didn't even blink.

If it were me I would have really though "why does he not want it".

@Litl

Lots of people don't like burning pine etc because of the tar/resin content which can be deposited in the flue, as well as the fact that it burns quickly.
