distance between studs

Hi!

Am I right in thinking that there is a 'usual' distance bewteen the studs in a stud wall. If so, what is it??

Also, what's the normal thinkness (if there is one) of a door lining and the stud against which it sits.

1/3 your board width to centres 16" or 400mm

3/4" thick x 1 5/8" wider than the studs [dependant on finnish]
 
forgot to mention your measuring tape may have diamonds triangles or some other symbol marked on the tape to aid marking up :D :wink:
