DIY jargon for noob

I don't know the names of a few things:

When fastening a plank adjacent to another plank...
-the wooden connector bits which you glue to slot them together
-the certain tool which helps evenly measure and mark where on the side of a plank to drill the hole to fit these wooden pieces

When fastening a horizontal plank to a vertical side of a cupboard...
-the (angular type?) screw which connects them by screwing into the horizontal plank to avoid any visible screws on the vertical plank

Wooden bits = Biscuit
Tool = Biscuit jointer

Or you could be talking about dowels (look like 1/2" length of pencil)
Then you would use a drill and a tape measure!

I have no idea what you mean in the second one, sorry.

thats exactly what i'm looking for. to conceal the screws:)

as for the second one- i think its a cam dowel/ cam screw and lock i was looking for.
