just discovered that one of my plastic light switchs is not earthed in fact there is no earth cable there .Is it possible to connect add second earth cable via to an exsisting one which goes to a power socket and connect to the light switch as the light switch i want to fit is chrome. Or am i lookin at an exspensive rewiring job?

Lighting circuits installed up to the sixties did not require earthing, so not unusual to find this.

Probably better to bite the bullet and consider rewiring the lighting circuit as you will need to earth many of the new fittings on the market.

cheers 4 the words of wisdom . however its actually a kitchen so no new fittings needed (because its tiny weeny).

But the lighting Circuit extends to the whole house surely. Or are you still on gas
