DIY Shoji Wardrobe

Hello!

I am planning to build a japanese style Shoji wardrobe like this:

I wanted to see if anyone could recommend a cheap overlap sliding door kit from anywhere...

Also, any recommendation to which type of wood to use? Must be fairly cheap perhaps plywood?

You need excellant carpentry skills to even attempt this, it does not use a sliding door kit.

Actually you could just have a sliding MDF panel, paint it a neutral colour and then stick strips of timber to that which would give the look.

If you want a proper door then as foxy says good joinery and then paper panels.
