Hello.

I have a wall hung basin for an en suite and have bought a Rawlplug fixing kit (140mm x 10mm bolt). It’ll be going through tile, tile backerboard and into timber.

I would have got the Fischer kit but it had a couple of negative reviews.

I don’t plan to sit on it but do these kits work? It seems like a lot is hanging (literally) on a couple of relatively short bolts.

I haven’t used those kits, but surely it’s better to use a 3 or 4 inch screw?

Yeah they're fine, I always put a bit of Fix All or similar behind as well for extra security

M10 screw bolts should be more than fine. As long as they are into well supported batons then all should be good.

Thanks, I’d prefer them over screws. If the basin ever needed to come off the bolts could stay (assuming the distance between the holes is standard!)

On the screw threads or on the ceramic?

Thanks fo replying.
On the ceramic face that will contact the wall when you do the bolts up. That stuff is strong too, once it's gone off the basin will never move again
