Do blown cooker elements always look like this?

The fan element in our Neff oven has blown and I was just wondering if blowing in such a spectacular fashion is normal?

Yep and I've seen worse .

Replaced it with a new one but as soon as the oven was turned on it just made a pop sound and still doesn't heat up. Everything's back in exactly as the old one came out.
