I have a Ideal mexico 2 rs60 boliler approx 15 years old. At 5:55 am this morning I noticed the boiler was on,but it's programmed to come on at 7:30am. There was frost outside so I thought there may be a frost stat. I consulted the manual but there is no mention of frost protection. Can anyone confirm if there is likely to be a frost stat.

Hi corgiman, the boilers located in the utility at the rear of the kitchen, it does get cold in there when the boilers not on.

Has an independent frost stat been fitted? Looks like a room stat on the wall where the boiler is.

Could also be a zone valve with a stuck microswitch making the boiler fire up.

Hi gas4you No frost stat near boiler, is it possible the boiler has one internally.

Never know one of these to have one. Check any zone valves you have. Test the orange wire for 240V when programmer is switched off. The live one will be the faulty one.

MEXICO does not have a frost stat as Dave says faulty motorised valve micro switch

Dave not everyone puts permenant live to grey as many put it to the orange.
