Hi All,

I'd been fitting a sink and new taps in my kitchen and subsequently found in the bathroom that the bath mixer tap had started dripping. Tightening the taps didn't help so i thought I might have to shut off the water and fit a new washer or packing etc.

Carried on with kitchen sink and other jobs. One day later went to clean bath after tiling bathroom floor and found that the tap had stopped leaking. Does anybody know why this happened? Should I still investiagte?

Cheers

Yes they can!. Don't know all thereasons but presumably they include scale, and bedding in of washers etc. Sometimes hard to understand, eg a boiler isolating vlave will often do the same.

If you turned the water off to do work in the kitchen then most likely cause would be debris in between the washer and seating. This has most likely been flushed away now. Luckily it wasn't too big or hard so as to damage the washer.
