Hello,

I've just had some new sockets installed onto an existing circuit by an electrical company. When asked if I'll receive a certificate for the work, the response was:

"No cert for this one as doesn't fall under scope of works to be certified"

Is this true?

As above, ALL electrical work should be CERTIFIED. Period.

Where the confusion often occurs is that some (more major) work requires NOTIFICATION to the local authority. In England, adding sockets to an EXISTING circuit does not require NOTIFICATION.

They owe you a minor works certificate.
