Hi, we are planning on getting a new bathroom, in this we (as in SWMBO want's) are looking at a 700x1200 ish tray with an open end and the little flap door at the end.

What I'm concerned with is do they result in water splatter out that end?
Personally I'd prefer a fully enclosed cubicle.

Wont stop water getting out to the floor if you are talking about an open end shower @ 1200mm long I wouldn't think. Most open ended showers are part of a wet room setup where it doesn't matter that water gets out onto the floor or if the tray is say 2000mm long with the shower @ the top end.

The 300mm returns are usually used when there is a wall or glass at the end and rather than putting a door in the opening at the side end, the return can be used to deflect water away from the opening stopping water getting out to the floor.

I have a 1200 enclosed shower cubicle in my wife's en-suite room and that constantly shows evidence of overspray on the end glass panel furthest from the shower head. No matter how careful my wife is in her shower, the spray seems to coat everything up to around knee height and maybe even higher.
